According to a story from OC Weekly and other sources, Santa Ana police were caught by surveillance cameras in some troubling behavior during a recent raid at the Sky High dispensary.

Two officers appear to eat cannabis edibles they found, and a female police officer jokes that she was about to kick Marla James—a marijuana activist and wheelchair-bound amputee who was present during the raid—in “her f-ing nub.”
The Santa Ana police chief has said he is investigating the incident, and that there are as much as 16 hours of surveillance video to review. Sky High’s attorney Matthew Pappas says he will sue on behalf of James, and suggested the officers involved should be drug tested.
Bruce Margolin, director of the National Organization For The Reform of Marijuana Laws’ LA chapter, called the raid, “Totally, ridiculously horrible. (It’s) unbelievable. The laws are ambiguous, everybody knows that. They take advantage of these poor people.”
“It seems we still have a long way to go towards compassion and understanding of medical marijuana,” said Ellen Komp, Deputy Director of Cal NORML. Komp called for sensitivity training for police who deal with medical marijuana establishments and patients.
